Understanding the condition

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions that affect movement, posture, and muscle tone. It is caused by atypical brain development before, during, or shortly after birth — and it is the most common motor disability in childhood.

No two children experience it the same way. Some walk and talk with ease; others rely on walkers, wheelchairs, or communication devices. Every child is different.

Learn more about CP
1
Spastic
Stiff, tight muscles that make movement effortful — the most common form.
2
Dyskinetic
Involuntary, uncontrolled movements that affect the hands, arms, feet, and legs.
3
Ataxic
Affects balance and coordination, leading to shaky movement and unsteady walking.
Why we started

Three children. Three reasons.

Over several months we spent time alongside children in therapy and adaptive sports. These are the kids — kept anonymous — who showed us why this work matters.

Adaptive tennis
Learning to find balance

A child with ataxic CP, working through coordination one swing at a time — from balloons to a real rally.

Occupational & physical therapy
Stronger, week by week

Months of therapy — stretching, stacking, drawing, and an eye-gaze device that gives a non-verbal child a voice.

Adaptive baseball
Playing through it

A child with a vision impairment catching, throwing, and hitting — proof of how far encouragement carries.

“Behind every therapy session is a child working harder than most of us ever will. CP therapy isn't optional — it's the difference between independence and limitation.”
